The Light Bulb, by Takumi Murayama
I wish our relationship
Did not go dark like a light bulb,
Even though we promised
To never break apart…
It could've been accidental,
Like when that stray comment of mine
Cracked the fragile glass of our love
Or maybe the heat between us
Actually made it burn out?
Florescent or Incandescent, all that's different
Is how much money I use in the end.
You were a florescent light, so I thought
Our relationship would last forever,
Worth that money I spent on you.
But alas, even with a “100% Guarantee”
Our love ended: one conflict led to another.
Breaking the promise we made
Of “eternal” love.
I throw away the remnants of that love —
Maybe I should tell everyone about
The way you hurt me so much?
But wait, I can recycle the light bulb…
Maybe someone else can love you more?
But I'm left to wander, in the dark,
Cold, confused, and lost,
Looking for somebody else's love
To brighten up my life.
Did not go dark like a light bulb,
Even though we promised
To never break apart…
It could've been accidental,
Like when that stray comment of mine
Cracked the fragile glass of our love
Or maybe the heat between us
Actually made it burn out?
Florescent or Incandescent, all that's different
Is how much money I use in the end.
You were a florescent light, so I thought

Worth that money I spent on you.
But alas, even with a “100% Guarantee”
Our love ended: one conflict led to another.
Breaking the promise we made
Of “eternal” love.

Looking for somebody else's love
To brighten up my life.
