And now, drum roll please, THE 80TH POST! *WOOHOO!*

OK, this isn’t too special, and is basically for my own convenience. I made a Keynote presentation about Hailstorms for school, and exported it to the Powerpoint format. I then placed the file onto this server, so I can access it from school. Now I want to know if it works. If you see this, please download the file linked to by the title, open it in Powerpoint, and test it. All text should have transitions, and all pictures except the one with damaged corn crops. Thank you if you do; this is due Friday so final testing is important!

Roger Waters - Ça Ira

Classical Music + Pink Floyd = Ça Ira. Amazing, and it retains the Floydness. Roger Waters is a true genius… You can listen to the whole thing on AOL Music. It’s the last CD to the right; have fun!

I can't wait to hear this - I really like Roger's solo work, particularly Radio KAOS and Amused to Death...he embraces all the music technology he can get his hands on and always uses it in clever ways...

Katrina < Rita…?

Log time… no… posting, I guess. Hurrican Katrina was devastating, and there is a more generous flow of money right now, but what exactly will happen after all this rush is over? In one month, I think everyone would’ve forgotten it, except the victims themselves. And Rita would help that too, since it seems like it’s even more powerful and devastating. One student from the Katrina disaster area joined my Middle School today, and four more to other divisions of my school. Would the same happen to Rita victims? Or late-coming Katrina victims who were injured and stayed in the hospitals? I think the latter should get more priority over the early uninjured people… but that’s just me… I still think donations should continue for a while, though.

Considering the situation that Louisiana is/was in, Katrina is much less of a chaotic doom-bringer than Rita. Sine LOs levys were poorly funded (President's fualt.) and broke, leading to massive flooding. Rita only had some fast winds and major rains which will both literally blow off in a few days.

Weeeeee! School! And Perl…

School started again! Yay! And homework! Yay! I’m not bored anymore! W00t! Yeah! Weeeeeeeee! And I’m programming in Perl! Why you ask? Because my friend wanted me to; he had a most excellent idea. It’s called ProgLaTeX, and it calculates LaTeX expressions (\sqrt{16} comes out as 4).

Why?
That's not really the way LaTeX works...
Do you know much about writing parsers,or lexical analyzers.
How would you do something like
\frac{\sqrt{(3+4-1)%2}{\sqrt{\sqrt{2+3/4}}}
or
\sqrt{4} + \sqrt[3]{3/4 + 1.34}
It would have to break it down
into a tree, and then evaluate
everything the right way.

I confess that I don’t know much about parsers. But I *could* just use a lot of find/replace things. Thanks for those examples; now I know how to properly do a cube root :)

Why do you celebrate the fact that you now must do, on average, 150 minutes of work every DAY?!
