Heh, quotes in CSS are back…

SubEthaEdit r0x0rz but… When I don't have quotes in a url() tag, it displays it as a comment since my urls all have // in them, like a comment for a single line in C and related languages.

I hadn't even noticed you were using absolute urls.

In other news, I've linked to your banner-button-thingummyjig. :)

Heh, yeah. Since Blogger uses folders for its archives, I had to use absolute URLs.

I made a link button!

Here is the code for it if you want to use it at all: <a href="http://hitoshi.berkeley.edu/~takumi/" title="It lurks in the shadow of Mac OS X"> <img src="http://hitoshi.berkeley.edu/~takumi/button.png" alt="Zaudragon++;" /> </a> It'll look like this: Zaudragon++;

Heh, I don't know CSS well enough…

One thing: In url() tags or whatever you call them, do you need quotes around the URL of the image or whatever? background-image: url(http://hitoshi.berkeley.edu/~takumi/backkr.png); Is that proper syntax?

Nope, no quotes required, although it doesn't make any difference to my knowledge if you include them. You can also put it straight in the "background" property, eg.

background: #fff url(images/clouds.png) repeat;

will work fine (taken out of a message style).

Mario Sounds in Adium

Recently I changed my iChat sounds in Adium to Mario sounds. They sound really good, and some people ask what game I'm playing :) On another note: ProtoScrollMod is updated to 2.3, with consecutive message-style timestamps in the initial message. It also changed to Message Style Version 3.

Demi-Psuedo-Hemi-Quasi-Semi-Sick

Yeah, I'm “Demi-Psuedo-Hemi-Quasi-Semi-Sick,” heh. My English teacher said it was OK that I had to stay home on Saturday and I couldn't go the a Public Library. And they're closed on Sundays. Today, though, I had orchestra from 18:00 to 21:30. So in the end, I couldn't go to the Public Library…

History Homework… Illness…

Today was a tough day. I forgot to do some History homework and I had to do it in 5 minutes. I had to read Act 4 of The Crucible on the bus ride to school. And I had to take notes for it. And now, I'm in bed at home with a cold…

I need something meaningful on my blog…

I most certainly do. So… Use Adium X! Adium X just pwns all other Mac OS X chat clients. It pwns Proteus, Fire, and iChat. If you use Windows, use Gaim. Gaim pwns all the other chat clients on Windows as well. It pwns Trillian, Miranda IM, and all of the official clients. And if you ever do use Adium X or Gaim, use Jabber with it!

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

That book r0x0rz. I just finished it yesterday. It's about censorship of books. Which is kind of ironic since it talks about book burning in a book. Heh.
